Frontier Chemistry Project
Practical guide to recognizing the medicinal/compound structures in everyday nature.

Questions:
1.) Justify the importance of identifying a pant/root correctly.
If you incorrectly identify a plant or root, you don't necessarily know what you're putting in your body. You could be causing severe damage by a slight little mistake instead of taking the time to recheck that your findings match your information.
2.) Why would it be prudent to know a variety of species from other regions with dealing with natural medicines and food?
Knowing a variety of species from different regions can provide you with expierience and knowledge if the time comes. If you're stuck in an Eastern Deciduous Forest environment, and you only studied Tall Grass Prairies, then how are you going to survive? Knowing a wide variety can help you overcome this problem.
3.)Would it make a difference if you were traveling in a different season? Why or why not.
Yes, because certain plants are only in bloom during certain seasons of the year.
4.) As a scientist, why would it be significant to develop a relationship with local peoples about their plant habitat?
The people could gain more knowledge in their local flora/fauna that they could possibly use to help treat them in the future if they come across the same health issues that the plants can help fix.
5.) If you were found without traditional medicines, would you trust your (or a reference texts) knowledge of local flora to treat illness or disease? Why or why not.
I would choose to trust my references because I listed chemical structures which can help determine what you are putting inside of your body.
