Van Maanen 2
I chose this star because, well honestly, I just thought the name was cool. Although it is part of the constellation Pisces, I happen to not be one.
Van Maanen 2 is a white dwarf star, and it is the third closest white dwarf star to the sun. It was discovered in 1917 by the astronomer, Adriaan van Maanen.
The star is about 4.30 parasecs from the sun or, 14.03 light years.
The stellar classification is classified as a DZ8 where the DZ indicates elements heavier than metals, but hydrogen and helium are the only elements that are visible in the spectrum.
